Below you will see a copy of a letter from Anthem BlueCross BlueShield that encourages a person to call and sign up for health care coverage. There is nothing wrong with that other than the letter is a tad bit deceiving and doesn’t really tell you the whole truth.
First of all, those great benefits they list are no better than any plan you will get from any insurer because all those things are now required by the Affordable Care Act. So, the advertisement letter is made to look like they are offering a great plan when in fact they really aren’t.
Secondly and most important, the letter encourages you to call Anthem directly or go to their website. The problem with that is that buying insurance directly from any insurer will mean you do not get any ObamaCare subsidy even if you are entitled to one. Anyone who makes less than 400% of the poverty level may get a subsidy but the ONLY way to get that subsidy is to by your insurance through the ObamaCare website www.healthcare.gov.
